JOB DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator of Education Programs is responsible for developing content for and overseeing youth and adult education programs at Edmundite Missions, teaching/leading education programs and sessions, and identifying education program opportunities and partnerships. The position is based in Selma, Alabama but requires regular travel to the rural sites of Missions youth education programs in Mosses, Alabama and Vredenburgh, Alabama. The position reports to the Chief Program Officer/Vice President of Program Integration.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • New Possibilities Youth Program Operations (NPYP)
    • Develop annual content plans for both the NPYP, both summer camp and the after school Reach program both in Selma and in rural sites
    • Prepare or ensure availability of all materials and external speakers for those programs
    • Market and recruit for program participation
    • Recruit and on-board all teachers and leaders of NPYP programs
    • Liaise with Program Manager to ensure all teachers and leaders complete Child Protect training annually
    • Serve as point-of-contact for all NPYP inquiries
    • Provide daily oversight for all NPYP programs, ensuring content alignment; ensure teacher conformance with curriculum
    • Teach/lead NPYP sessions as appropriate
  • Adult Education
    • In coordination with the Director of the Dr. Michael and Catherine Bullock Community and Recreation Center and the Director of Catholic Social Ministries, identify opportunities for adult education programs not otherwise provided by other departments of the Missions, and recommend implementation plans
    • Market adult education programs and recruit participants
    • Recruit and onboard all needed expert volunteers for the provision of program content
    • With the Director of the Bullock Center train all expert volunteers using the Missions volunteer training methodology; liaise with the education Program Manager to ensure that all volunteers complete Child Protect training annually
    • Identify and vet with the Director of the Bullock Center opportunities for adult education partnerships. Present recommended partnerships to Senior Management for approval.
  • Reporting and Evaluation
    • Maintain all program data for all education in the Missions program performance data system
    • Develop and implement program and content evaluation systems to determine achievement of program content and leadership goals
    • Regularly assess student and parent/guardian satisfaction with NPYP programs and recommend needed adjustments to Senior Management
    • Regularly assess participant satisfaction with adult education programs and recommend needed adjustments to Senior Management

Candidate Requirements


  • At least 8 years teaching experience in a setting that emphasizes both academic and personal growth
  • Experience in managing and administering education programs for both youth, especially middle school ages, and adults
  • Experience organizing and managing field trips and off-site experiential learning
  • Experience in creating content for educational programs and organizing resources around that content
  • Experience forming and managing partnerships with other organizations
  • Education evaluation skills
  • BA degree
  • Travel to rural areas required
