Shelter and Clothing

Through outreach ministries, Sisters and staff offer simple housing repairs to a limited number of needy families and elders.

Most assistance focuses on building porches and ramps for seniors and handicapped persons. More extensive repairs are sometimes made, but most housing efforts are geared to help with utility bills and the purchase of small refrigerators, heaters and fans.

Families who lose everything in burnouts or tornadoes receive gift cards for food.

The Missions assist with school uniforms, and provide low-cost clothing, furniture, blankets, household items and personal necessities through thrift stores:

  • Wize Buyz, Vredenburgh
  • The Price is Right, Good Shepherd Catholic Center, Mosses

The Missions also partner with an African-American nonprofit ministry in Wilcox County, Partners in Progress, that has a thrift store, Mary’s Food and Fashion.
