ALA-BAG-A

Purses/Totes

Led by Sr. Ann Chaput, B.V.M., a group of women of the Good Shepherd Catholic Center in Mosses, Lowndes County, are making a difference for their community. They took a craft that has been an important part of the story of African-American life in the South - sewing quilts - and created a new venture called ALA-BAG-A.

Auburn Tiger Alabaga Purse

The original and unique ALA-BAG-A is reversible purse, sewn from denim with a colorful African-themed print. Each bag is numbered and signed by the seamstress. The bags are sold to the public, and proseeds goes to the woman who live in one of the economically poorest areas of the United States and have little or no other income.

Specialty bags for the Auburn Tigers are also available. This college themed bag is just the right size for toting a university essential: a laptop!

Sr. Ann's other ministries include a food pantry, county-wide senior educational outreach, a camp and reading room for children, housing repair and a thrift store, The Price is Right.
