Archbishop Visits Selma

Meets with Queen of Peach Parish and the Edmundite Missions

Most Rev. Thomas J. Rodi, newly named Archbishop of the Mobile (AL) Diocese, recently visited Selma to meet with the Queen of Peace Parish and the Edmundite Missions.

He celebrated Mass with Edmundite Fathers Richard Myhalyk, Carroll Plourde and Paul McQuillen a the parish, stressing the message of faith and love.

He visited the Missions' outreach in Selma including the St. Edmund Learning Center, the Social Ministry center and the Bosco Food Kitchen, in addition to the newsletter and programs offices.

"Selma and the Archdiocese are blessed to have the Edmundite Fathers and Brothers and religious sisters working here," he said. The Edmundites have been serving rural Alabama since 1937.

The Latin words "Caritas Christi Urget Nos" are taken from St. Paul's 2nd Letter to the Corinthians (2 Cor. 5:14) to express the archbishop's firm belief that it is the "Love of Christ [which] compels us" to do all that we do for one another.
