Rebuilding a City
My Soul is open before You
Like a blank sheet of paper
Write on it what you will
O Lord I am Yours
Pope John XXIII
The Edmundite Missions, in cooperation with Edmundite priest Father Michael Jacques, S.S.E., is offering volunteer opportunities to rebuild the City of New Orleans.
Devastated in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina, the church is trying to provide adequate housing for its poor and low-income residents while also dealing with the aftermath of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008.
Most of the work available is helping families gut and rebuild their own flood and wind damaged homes. Many families have lived in the city for several generations and have survived in makeshift rooms, rentals and trailers since Katrina hit in 2005.

Volunteer groups of all skill levels are needed. Skilled laborers are especially appreciated.
Group size is limited to 20 people. Information on low-cost housing ($20-$50 a night) for your volunteer group is available. One evening together is sponsored by the church with parish families and volunteers, a New Orleans meal and faith sharing.
Volunteer groups are encouraged to bring $250 or more to help purchase materials for home rebuilding projects.
All groups are welcome to participate in worship at the church. Mass schedule:
Sunday 7, 9, 11:30 a.m. (Gospel masses at 9 & 11:30 a.m.);
Wednesday 8:30 a.m. with school community during the schoolyear.
