Father Richard Myhalyk, S.S.E. is the 7th Director of the Edmundite Missions. He raises critically needed funds to sustain outreach efforts for the poor, coordinates development efforts, builds new initiatives and develops strategies which feed, clothe, shelter and educate the needy in the Black Belt of Central Alabama. Fr. Richard promotes and builds relationships that engage others in the ongoing task of evangelization through the Corporal Works of Mercy described in Matthew 25.


keysA native of Elmira, NY, Fr. Myhalyk made final religious profession on May 1, 1970 and was ordained an Edmundite priest on May 1, 1971. He was educated at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, the Toronto School of Theology in Canada, and Xavier University of Louisiana. Fr. Richard has held national offices while serving as vocation director and major superior of the Society of St. Edmund.

Fr. Myhalyk served as Superior of the Edmundite Missions from 1977 until 1982, while serving as pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Mobile, AL. From 1994 until 1998, when he was elected Superior General, Fr. Richard was Director of Formation and Director of Programs in Selma. He held various posts at Saint Michael’s College associated with the board of trustees, campus ministry, strategic planning, alumni affairs, development, international students, and finance. Besides his past labors in the Edmundite Missions and at Saint Michael’s College, Fr. Richard has served as Director of Saint Edmund’s Retreat in Mystic, CT. He has been involved with Catholic Engaged Encounter since 1977.

Fr. Myhalyk is a member of the National Catholic Development Conference and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
